Animals and creatures Illustrations ( Artist Martha Von Maydell )

Martha Von Maydell is a illustrator from Berlin who specialises in paper cut, specifically paper cuts of animals. The paper cuts that she creates are mainly for products or books for children but she also creates paper cuts for overall purposes. The reason i am looking at her is because of how crisp the lines are from when she cut the section out and how she puts detail into each section she has cut out without wrecking the overall image.

Here is one of her images that she has produced, the image is of swans swimming around a pound with foxs fighting on the river bank with trees spewing up out of the waters depths. This is my favourite paper cut by her purely because all the colours work together and how it looks like a scene from the tv show and book called the Wind in the willows. The way she has had sections over layered helps the images to pop out of the peice of paper and it helps add depth to the hole piece in general. How she has painted the papercuts of the trees and water helps add shade and movement to the image.
