In this blog i will be talking briefly about some of the illustrations i have done in my reportage unit.
In the first unit our tutors brought in a burlesque life model for us to create large variety of sketches, i made sure that all the illustrations that i did in this unit were in the style of reportage.
For this illustration i illustrated the life model in a position sitting down while holding one leg up, i used a mixture of orange marker and gray marker to create this illustrations.
I illustrated a bottle of a soft drink using a fine liner, yellow marker and brown marker, i purposely used different colours to the actual image to add a new and unusual look to the overall design, i also coloured the bottle in quickly so i had less control of where the ink would cover so it would give the over all image more shape.
Here i have illustrated a bottle of water using a different shades of blue coloured pens and the reason i have done this is because the blue helps the element of water pop out more within the bottle.
For this i have illustrated one of my friends sitting on a couch with is leg up and for this illustration i have used a mixture of blue and pink pencils and the reason i have done this is to help his jacket stand out from the rest of his body.
Here i have illustrated a tree that has a metal grid protecting the bottom of the tree and what i like abut this illustration is how the trees shape flows well with the mixture of light and dark pinks, my only flaw is that i wish i put more time into the metal grid at the bottom.
This may only be a small illustration but i think out of most of my other illustrations this one stands out the most because it may not have alot of detail but the detail that i have included in this piece stands out more then the others and how i have used a blue pencil over the pink pencils outline gives the overall image more of an ability to pop up out of the page.
Here i have illustrated the life model laying down with both of her legs facing upwards, for this illustrated i have used a combination of grays and blues to help highlight the parts of her body that have the darker and lighter aspects such as the darker blue used on her arms.
Here i have illustrated the life model laying down with her head between her hands and what i like about this illustration is how the proportions look correct and unlike most of my other illustrations of people she doesnt have a certain part thats out of proportion to another so i think that this is one of my better pieces of life drawing.
I have illustrated her sitting down facing away from me using her hand to help keep her balance while leaning back a little and what i like about this illustration is how i have put detail of her spine in and the outline of her shoulder blades popping out to help resemble her back archer over but how her arm almost looks snapped wrecks this image for me which is unfortunate.
Unfortunately i kept on having troubles with my camera so the picture i took kept ending upside down either way i still like this illustration because i havnt used detail or lines to help this image stand out but different shades of browns and yellows to add depth and shape to the image.
For this illustration i have used a mixture of dark blue, light blue and gray to help create this piece. What i like about this illustration is how i have used quick squiggly lines to built up the detail and shape of the image and what i like about doing this is how it helps the image stand apart from all the other illustrations of scenery.
Here i have illustrated a silhouette of a industrial works using a light blue and i have used the same blue to help add a slightly darker tone to aspects of the image that needed to stand out more.
